PhD Positions at Poornaprajna Institute of Scientific Research in India

The Poornaprajna Institute of Scientific Research (PPISR) is inviting applications from scholars and young researchers to pursue PhD in diverse fields of study at PPISR, Bangalore India. The scholarships are provided to the scholars and researchers interested ad enthusiastic about the fields of Theoretical Physics, Biological Sciences and Material Sciences.

About PPISR

The PPISR (Poornaprajna Institute of Scientific Research) is located near Bangalore and it is recognised by the Government of India (GOI), Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Karnataka and the Manipal University, Manipal, Karnataka. The PPISR has been provided with many of the Government sponsored projects. The PPISR provide students with lot of opportunities to interact with other research institutes and faculties in our country and abroad. The faculty members usually tend to be the PhD guides and the students enrolled as research fellows are registered in the Manipal University, Manipal(one of the top private universities in India) as PhD fellows.

The institute is built on a sprawling campus of 32 acres and provides state of the art facilities to the students and young researchers alike to take up their research activities to a higher level. The scholarship is being provided by the Sao Paulo State Research Foundation (FAPESP, Proc. nº 09/53006-0). The scholarship provider aims at assisting the students with state of the art facilities and helping the students with pursuing postdoctoral degrees and positions.

Scholarship Fee

The scholarship for the PhD positions is given according to the university/Institute norms. The stipend available for the students will only be revealed once the student gets registered to the scholarship. The scholarship for the PhD research positions is being provided to the students and scholars of India. Currently, the Institute is offering only three divisions of broad research areas namely Material Sciences, Biological Sciences and Theoretical Sciences.

Eligibility for the Fellowship/Scholarship

The eligibility for the students or scholars to pursue PhD positions is given below. The scholars should satisfy the below requirements.

  1. The candidates applying for the PhD fellowship/scholarship should be M.Sc in Physics, chemistry, Biology or Mathematics or in other inter-disciplinary fields of study such as Materials Sciences , Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Chemical Sciences. The inter-disciplinary study courses are all eligible to apply for the PhD positions.
  2. The candidates should have been qualified in CSIR-JRF or the UGC-JRF positions.
  3. The candidates may also be qualified for the DST-INSPIRE fellowship.
