IELTS Scholarship Award

The British council had come up with IELTS scholarship award with the aim of supporting Indian students to pursue their academic studies in an English-speaking country including US, UK, Canada and Australia. The scholarship is highly popular among Indian students intending to carry out their academics outside India. The scholarship is awarded to eight successful winners every year for their course study at any of the overseas academic university.

The applicants should take up the International English Language Testing System before attending any course abroad. This is a standardised system testing the English language proficiency for non-native speakers of the language.

This scholarship is a full-time offering throughout the academic tenure for the successful students in universities where IELTS is considered to be the benchmark measure for English speaking proficiency to pursue academics overseas.

Number of Scholarships

The number of scholarships awarded every year is around eight scholarships. The applications are thoroughly screened and checked against meeting all the eligibility criteria to plan for the face to face interview which will be videotaped. The interview will be assessed by third party examiners of higher education and senior managers of the IELTS community. The scholarship is meant to build confidence in students to study academics in a multi cultural background, explore new places and learn new skills.

Scholarship fee

The scholarship of about 3, 00,000 rupees to each of the eight successful candidates is awarded for the entire period of their study at any university abroad. It covers the entire cost of the tuition fee for the academic years of study at any of your aspiring universities overseas.

Eligibility Criteria

The criteria of Eligibility are given below.

  1. Be the resident and the citizen of India.
  2. Must have taken up the IELTS test with the British Council community.
  3. Must have obtained a minimum overall IELTS band score of 6.0
  4. Should have the letter of admission to any of the university abroad which considers IELTS as the measure of admission to itself.
  5. Should have started his undergraduate or postgraduate course of study at any of the universities abroad including US, UK, Canada and Australia as mentioned earlier.

Applicants are supposed to apply for this scholarship online. The entire application is put up at the British council official website.

One can download the application and fill up the complete details. Later the scanned copy of the application needs to be sent to the email address ielts.scholarship@britishcouncil.org

The last date to receive the application form is 30th of June, 2014.

Once you finish sending your application, a confirmation mail will be sent to you within two days detailing you with the further process.
