Gate exam is an (Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineers ) entrance exam for M.tech conducted by Indian Institute of Sciences and Indian Institute of Management jointly. A candidate will be given admission in M.Tech depending upon the performance in the GATE Exam. These days all the public sector jobs are being related to GATE score. Generally GATE is given 75% weightage and Interview is given only 25% weightage. So Gate exam plays a major role in getting the job.
The score card reveals the technical skills of the candidate and based on the score card the candidate should apply to each of the institutes after the institutes publish the M.tech notification. Basically the exam is conducted for three hours both in online and offline. Online exam will be conducted in the mid of January and offline exam will be conducted every second Sunday of February.
GATE Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria
Bachelors degree in engineering and those who are in final year engineering are eligible. Master degree holders and those who are in final year and pre final year are also eligible. Inorder to fill the online application form candidates should first register their mail id, so that further Communication will be done through this mail id. Online Application form contains personal information, communication address, degree details, and examination centre. Then the candidate should upload the photograph and necessary documents if the candidate is SC/ST. If the candidate is male general then he has to pay 1200/- or if the candidate is male SC/ST then he has to pay 600/-. For the female candidates fee is exempted. Once again the candidate can pay the fee through online or offline.
If the candidate select online then he has to go for net banking. If it is offline then a challan will be produced with the candidate details, he has to take the print and submit in any of the banks. Then they will verify the details with data available in the bank and then he will accept the payment. Once the payment done take the print of the application form then stick the photograph and complete all the signatures(with black ink) .This photograph and signature should match with the one in the photograph file uploaded. Then post the application form to the given address.
Gate score is valid for 2 yrs from the day of announcement of results. Government / Public Sector Units (PSU)’s like Indian OIL, NTPC Limited, BARC, NPCIL, HAL many more, give importance to GATE scores for various job positions in their organizations.
