Entrance Test for AIIMS MBBS- Eligibility, Cutoff, Application Process

Entrance Examination being conducted through All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
AIIMS 2013 MBBS eligibility Criteria
The candidate must fulfil the following criteria to get admission into the Bachelor’s degree into the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
AGE- The candidate must have attained the age of 17 years as on 31st December, 2013 and the candidates that were born on or after 2nd January 1996 are not eligible to appear in this test.
The candidate must have passed class 12th under any certified board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as its main subjects. The candidate must have obtained and aggregate of 60% marks in 12th Boards for general as well as for the OBC, however for the SC class the eligibility in class 12 Boards is 50% marks.
For Overseas Citizens of India
OCI citizens of India, registered under the Section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955 are eligible as well to sit in this test and all the terms and conditions applicable to the Indian Nationals are applicable to these candidates as well. However, to appear in this test, these candidates will have to submit the proof Registration as OCI under Section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955.
Foreign Nationals
The Foreign Nationals nominated by the Indian government must have obtained an aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English in their intermediate science examination to appear in the MBBS course, these candidates however need not to appear for the entrance test.
Online Application Form
The candidates seeking admission to the MBBS course for the year 2013 will have to apply online through the website www.aiimsexams.org. The Application form will cost Rs 1000 for the General category and OBC categories. The cost of the form for the SC/ST categories is Rs 800. The payment can be made through the computer generated challan in any of the State Bank of India branches.
AIIMS MBBS test Marking scheme and Pattern
The AIIMS test paper for admissions to MBBS 2013 will be of 3 and a half duration of time and it will be available in both English as well as Hindi and the paper will consist of objective type of questions with only one answer correct. There will be a total of 200 questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge. There will be 60 questions each from Chemistry, Physics and Biology each and 20 questions from the General Knowledge section. 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer and 1/3rd of the marks will be deducted from the total score for each wrong answer. However there will be no negative marking for the ones left unanswered. In case the candidate marks more than one answer than that answer will be considered as a wrong answer and 1/3rd of the marks will be deducted for this.
Minimum cut-off marks
The Minimum percentage of the marks required in this test for the various categories have been discussed below
General- The candidate belonging to the General category will have to obtain at least 50% marks to be eligible for this MBBS entrance exam.
OBC- The candidate belonging to the OBC category will have to score at least a total of 45% marks.
SC/ST- The candidates belonging to these categories need a minimum o f40% marks in the MBBS entrance exam.
Test Centres
The exam will be held at 17 cities in India and these cities are listed as Ahmedabad, Bangaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna and Raipur.
Number of seats for the MBBS course
There are a total of 77 seats every year for this course and the distribution of seats have been discussed below

  1. General Category- 37
  2. Scheduled Class- 11
  3. Scheduled Tribes- 5
  4. Other Backward Class- 19
  5. Foreign National- 5

3% of the seats are reserved for the Physically challenged candidates.
