BITSAT stands for BITS admission test is an online series of tests to get admission into the Bachelor’s courses at BITS Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campus. Birla Institute of Science and Technology (BITS) is one of the premier institutes of our country and it is declared as a deemed universities under Section 3 of the UGC Act.
Only the students who have cleared their class twelfth board exams or its equivalent with an aggregate of 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Maths and at least 60% marks in each of these subjects and the candidate should have high English proficiency as well.
Only the students who are appearing for their class twelfth examination this year or have passes their board exams last year are eligible for this test. The students who passed their twelfth boards in the year 2011 or before are not eligible to appear in the exam. The admissions to any of the BITS campus will be purely based on merit and this merit will be decided by the score of the candidate appearing in the test.
Board Toppers Admission
The central or state board toppers will be given direct admission to this institute, despite of their score in the BITSAT 2013.
BITSAT Online Test Details
Online test means that teach student will sit in front of a computer and he will have to give his test on this computer. The questions will appear on the computer screen and the students can answer these questions with the help of keyboard or mouse. One rough pad will be provided to all the students to do the calculations. BITSAT will commence for a certain duration of days and students can choose their day of examination, time as well as location of the test accordingly to their ease.
BITSAT Exam Structure
BITSAT is an online multiple choice question test with negative marking i.e. each wrong answer would deduct 1 mark from the total score whereas each correct answer would add 3 marks to the total score. The duration of the test will be of 3 hours and the total number of question in the test will be 150 and in case the candidate does not know the correct answer he can skip that question and can return back whenever he feels to reattempt it. The candidate can take as much time as he wants on any of the questions as there is no time limit on attempting a question. The test will consist of four parts as follows
Part I : Physics
Part II : Chemistry
Part III : (a) English Proficiency and (b) Logical Reasoning
Part IV : Mathematics

There is an option of attempting bonus questions as well, if the candidate has completed all his 150 questions and still if there is some time left, he can ask for 12 more question and these questions will be from Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry four each. The candidates should, please make sure that they should not mark all the questions in order to solve those 12 questions because there is negative ,marking in the test, so mark only those questions that you can assure to be correct.
How to Apply for BITSAT
The interested candidates should fill the form for admission from the official website of BITSAT. If you wish to make the payment by the Demand draft then a copy of the completed application form along with the prescribed fees of Rs.1850/ for male candidates and it is Rs1350/- for female candidates, should be sent to Admissions Officer, BITS, Pilani – 333 031. If you wish to pay the fees by some other mode then the prescribed fees is Rs. 1750/- for male candidates and Rs. 1250/- for female candidates. Make sure that you fill the form before 15th February 2013, since it is the last day of filling forms and in case you are paying the fees through DD, the the copy of application form as well as DD should reach the office of BITS Pilani before 5:00 pm on 15th February 2013.
BITSAT Hall Ticket or Admit Card
The candidates who have registered for the BITSAT 2013 will be instructed to download a “Hall Ticket” and only the students with hall tickets will be allowed to enter in the examination hall, as it is a proof of the identity. The candidates should bring a pen for the signing purposes as well as for performing the rough work, however the rough pads for rough work will be provided in the test. Do not carry calculators, log tables or mobile phones to the examination hall, their use is strictly prohibited.
