The Central Counseling Board, CCB has been renamed as Central Seat Allocation Board, CSAB.  This board is what conducts the main process that happens after the plus two results are out, till the candidates get seats allocated in their desired colleges.

The overall process

The overall process that happens from the beginning till the end of the counseling is given below as an overview.

  • Online registration
  • Online choice filling and locking
  • Seat allocation and verification
  • Upgradation
  • Spot round
  • Extra spot round

The candidates must fill the form online for counseling. The candidates must be very careful while providing personal details, as any mistake will not be CSABs responsibility with sensitive information like account numbers. These details will be used for refund incase anything comes up. The candidate must give proper contact and account details. The next important step in the process is selecting the college preference. The candidates can select the colleges of their preference in one order. They can also modify or delete the colleges in order. All these cannot be done once they lock their choices. So the candidates must be careful when they lock their choices. The candidates who have not finished this step will not be eligible for selection and admission.

The seat allocation details are updated on the official website and will not be sent personally. The candidates are given appropriate appointments to meet an official personally at the reporting center. The candidates are expected to be there on time and those who miss the appointment will not be considered later for admission. The candidates, who have not received allocation in the first round, will be called for in the subsequent rounds to come. The candidates must carry all their original certificates when they get to the reporting centre for seat allocation.

At the reporting center, the candidate has to show proof of payment for the initial fee of Rs.40, 000 done through any of the following methods.

  • Online payment
  • NEFT
  • E-challan
  • Net banking

The candidates who have selected a college in the first round will automatically be eligible for the next round for upgradation. After a candidate selects colleges and if he is eligible for upgradation, then the candidate is given a chance to make a better choice if seats are available. In case any upgradation is done, the candidate’s new status is updated in the system.

The last rounds are the spot rounds and extra spot rounds after all the selection is done for the left over seats. The eligibility for these rounds is.

  • The candidates who did not register before the specified time.
  • The candidates who did register but did not receive allocations.
  • The candidate who were rejected for mistakes in information but valid for allocation.
