Christian Medical College, Vellore, will hold the entrance examination for admission to the Under Graduate Medical Courses at the Institute, on 18th May, 2012 at Bangalore, Calicut, Chennai, Delhi, Ernakulam, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkatta, Kottayam, Lucknow, Madurai, Mumbai, Puducherry, Salem, Thiruvananthapuram, Vellore, Vijayawada and Penang (Malaysia)

The courses to which admissions will be made include MBBS, B.Sc in Nursing and Allied Health Services Degree Courses (Group-A) and Diploma in Nursing, AHS Diploma Course and Analytical Clinical Pharmacology, M.Sc & DCPC courses (Group-B)

Age: For all Group-A courses, applicants should have been born on or before 31st December, 1995

Educational Qualification: The minimum qualification prescribed is an equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years of study, the last two years of study comprising Physics, Chemistry and Biology with English

MBBS: Applicant should have passed in all subjects of the qualifying examination of the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination, (Academic) conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board or any other equivalent examination in one and the same attempt in the subjects

Improvement marks of plus two examination will not be considered

A candidate seeking admission for MBBS, must have 60% marks at plus 2 level in each of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Botany and Zoology taken together) and should have an aggregate of 140/200 in these subjects, both at qualifying and competitive examinations and should have passed in English

It is 60% in each and 130/200 aggregate for BC, 55% in each and 120/200 aggregate for MBC, and 40% in each and 80/200 aggregate for SC/ST candidates.

There are 10 open seats (1 central pool scheme, Govt of India and 2 SC/ST) and 50 sponsored seats

The tuition fee is Rs 20,000/-

B.Sc Nursing: Admission to B.Sc in Nursing, applicant should have a pass with 45% aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology)

Only unmarried women candidates are eligible to apply for this course

The tuition fee is Rs 25,785/-

Entrance Examination: Entrance examination for Group-A admissions would be held in the morning and that for Group-B, in the afternoon on 18th May, 2012

The Group-A and Group-B Science examination will consist of multiple-choice questions in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Ability with emphasis on Speed and Accuracy and a few questions on issues of current topical interest

The examination will be conducted in English medium

Performance in this examination will be the basis for being called for the interviews, practical tests and final selections

Christian students who apply under sponsored category will be given a test of Bible Knowledge (50 multiple choice questions)

The General Paper (Non Science) will consist of multiple choice questions of a general nature, including very basic science, general knowledge, current awareness and general ability

The admission tests are all in English and will be of the objective or multiple choice answer type

There will be many questions printed in the test booklet

Each question will have five possible answers printed after it

Candidate will have to select the one best answer to each question

For the degree courses (MBBS, BSc (N) & AHS Degree Courses) there will be 60 questions each in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (120 minutes total) and 120 questions in General Ability including Speed and Accuracy and a few questions on issues of current topical interest (70 minutes)

The General Ability paper will be in two sections

Section-I will have 60 questions to be answered in 50 minutes and Section-II will have 60 questions to be answered in 20 minutes

The whole exam will be 3 hours 10 minutes long

For the Diploma courses, the examination consists of 25 questions each in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and 15 questions in General ability

The duration of the exam will be 90 minutes

There is no negative marking

In the Degree (MBBS, etc) combined entrance examination only, credit is given for questions not attempted (those left blank)

The credit given is equal to 1/5 (0.2) of the mark for that question

Interviews and Practical test for selection to the various courses will be held at Vellore

Those who write the All India Entrance in May and are short listed for interviews and practical tests will be intimated by letter sent by speed post around the first week of June

Hall ticket numbers of these candidates invited for interviews, will also be posted on the website around first week of June, 2012

Being called for interview does not necessarily mean selection or acceptance of eligibility

At the time of registration for interview and practical tests, original certificates should be produced for verification

Attested photocopies are admissible only for the interview but not for the registration for admission

Educational Qualifications: Candidates should have passed XII class or Intermediate or its equivalent examination preferable with Science subjects

Candidates who have passed ANM course of 18 months are eligible to admit into GNM course and they are exempted 6 months duration in GNM course subject to the condition that they shall under go the revised training programme as laid by the Indian Nursing Council New Delhi

The aggregate marks of minimum 45% in Intermediate or its equivalent examination are fixed by the Indian Nursing Council for admissions into Nursing Schools (for admissions into General Nursing and Midwifery Course.

The same is relaxed in favor of SC/ST/BC candidates and they shall be eligible if they passed, Intermediate or its equivalent examination

In respect of admission of general category candidates for the said course, for OC candidates, the condition of minimum 45% aggregate marks in intermediate or its equivalent examination should be followed as per the Indian Nursing Council regulations

After first phase of notification, counseling and wide publicity, if vacancies of general category seats are unfilled and the candidates of OC category are not available with 45% aggregate marks in Intermediate or in its equivalent examination, then only the unfilled vacancies in the general category shall be filled up with OC candidates with a pass in Intermediate or its equivalent examination

The existing Rule of Reservation as being implemented now shall be followed

Age: The minimum age shall be 16 years completed and enter 17th year as on the 1st July of the year and shall not have completed 35 years of age

The upper age limit for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/BC is relaxable by 3 years

Selection Process: Online GNM admission application is being introduced from this academic year 2012-2013

Every Superintendent will be provided with user ID and password for verification of on-line applications received by them

After selection of the candidates, they have to indicate the selected candidates through online

Only downloaded online filled in applications along with registration fee and relevant enclosures have to be accepted

Selections will be made purely on merit, on the basis of aggregate marks obtained by the candidates in the group subjects, excluding languages

In deciding merit candidates who qualify under compartmental system will be placed after candidates who passed in a single attempt

Incomplete applications or applications submitted without attested copies of relevant documents will be rejected

The SC/ST/BC candidates should furnish the prescribed caste certificate given at attachment at Annexure-I signed by the competent authority not below the rank of Mandal Revenue Officer

Himachal Pradesh Takniki Shiksha Board, Dharamshala is going to conduct Polytechnic Admission Test (PAT-2012) for admission to various diploma courses running in State Polytechnics (Govt and Private) on 20th May, 2012, Sunday

The Non-Himachali Indian Nationals candidates of other states can also compete with Himachali general category candidates for 15% seats of the total seats

It is mandatory for departmental candidates to appear in this test

Eligibility: The candidate appearing for the PAT-2012 should have either passed Matriculation examination with 35% marks in aggregate and must also pass in Science, Mathematics and English or should have appeared in 2012 in Matriculation examination or its equivalent examination with Science, Mathematics and English from recognized board/university or its equivalent

A candidate who has appeared in Matriculation examination in 2012, shall be allowed to appear in the test provisionally and his eligibility shall be verified at the time of counseling by the Central Admission Selection Committee

The prospectus along with necessary enclosures can be obtained between 30th March, 2012 to 26th April, 2012 from the following designated sale centres against cash payment of Rs 650/- for general category candidates and Rs 400/- for SC/ST/OBC candidates

The prospectus along with necessary enclosures can also be obtained from the office of the Secretary, Himachal Pradesh Takniki Shiksha Board, Dharamshala at Dari-176057 on cash payment of Rs 650/- for General category and Rs 400/- for SC/ST/OBC candidates from 30th March, 2012 to 30th April, 2012

Candidates can also obtain the prospectus through registered post by sending bank draft of Rs 700/- General category and Rs 450/- for SC/ST/OBC drawn in favour of Secretary, Himachal Pradesh Takniki Shiksha Board, payable at Dharamshala, requesting for the brochure by indicating their complete postal address on receipt of the bank draft, the prospectus along with the enclosures, will be sent by post

The postal charges will be borne by the board

Candidates should write their name and address on the reverse of the demand draft

Separate advertisement will be published in the newspapers for admission to 02 years Pharmacy Diploma course and lateral entry scheme in Polytechnics

The candidates are advised not to attach any certificate (original/photocopy) with the application form of PAT

No document or any other enclosure shall be pinned or stapled by the candidate with the application form

This may render the form unscanable

No separate advertisement or communication shall be made with the candidate for counseling

The candidates shall present themselves on the scheduled date of counseling given in prospectus before the admission selection committee

The PAT application forms may be sent in the envelope provided with the application form by registered post

The request to get prospectus through registered post along with fee must reach the Board office up to 20th April, 2012

No request to send prospectus through registered post will be entertained after this date

The application form complete in all respects must reach the board office on or before 17.00 hours on 30th April, 2012
