CSIR IGIB Admissions for Ph.D Program 2016

The CSIR-institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB) invites applications to pursue research in frontier areas of modern biology leading to a Ph.D degree. The broad interdisciplinary research areas are genomics and molecularmedicine, chemical and systems biology,genome informatics and structural biology, respiratory disease biology and environmental biotechnology indeed.

Educational Qualifications for CSIR IGIB Ph.D Admission 2016:

The candidates interested in applying for the CSIR IGIB Ph.D in Biotechnology should possessed with any of the following educational qualifications,

  • Masters’ degree (Sc./M.Tech.) with 60% (or equivalent in CGPA) in any branch of Lifeciences/Biotechnology/Chemistry/Physics/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science orallied subjects with special interest in Biology   (or)
  • Tech (in Biological Sciences or otherbranches with special interest in Biology)/B.Pharm. candidates with 60% (or equivalent inCGPA) may also apply.

Avail Fellowship for CSIR IGIB Ph.D Admissions 2016:

M.Sc./M.Tech./B.Tech./B Pharm. candidates should also hold CSIR-UGC(JRF)/DBT (JRF) /ICMR-JRF/DST-INSPIRE or equivalent (fellowship certificate should bevalid at the time of application and at least till July 31, 2016, in all cases).

Age Limit:

  • The candidates who are interested in applying for the CSIR IGIB Ph.D Admissions 2016 should be 28 years which is the maximum age limit for the course as on 15th May 2016.
  • Age relaxation is applicable as per government of India norms.

CSIR IGIB Admission to Ph.D Application Fees:

Candidates from General Category has to pay Rs. 1000/- towards application fees

Candidates from SC/ST/OBC has to pay Rs.500/- towards application

Selection Process:

The candidates final selection for the CSIR IGIB Ph.D Admission in Biotechnology will be based on the candidates performance with the entrance exam followed by personality test indeed.

Important Dates:

The online aptitude test for the Ph.D will be conducted on 12th June 2016

The result for the aptitude test will be declared on 15th June 2016

Interviews and discussion at CSIR-IGIB from July 11-July 13, 2015

NITIE Fellow (Doctoral) Programme 2016 with Financial Assistance

National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) Mumbai, an autonomous body under the Ministry of HRD, Government of India invites application for the Fellow (Doctoral) Programme for the 2016 batch. The Doctoral (fellowship) programme covers the following areas such as, Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Systems, Operations and Decision Science and Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, Environmental Engineering and Management, Engineering Technology and Project Management, Organizational Behavior & Human Resource Management, Finance & Accounts, Marketing, Economics & Strategy.


Eligibility for NITIE Fellowship 2016:

Master’s degree or equivalent in Engineering/ Technology, Management, Economics, Commerce, Social Science, Life sciences and Pure Sciences with 60% aggregate marks (relaxable by 5% in case of SC/ST/PwD (Person with Disability) candidates) from recognized University/ Institution, CA/ ICWAand ACS.

Final year students in the above said disciplines can also apply.

Project/Work experience in these areas would be preferred.

The number of seats are reserved as per the Government of India rules for SC/ST/OBC-NC (Non-Creamy) and PwD candidates.


Selection Process of NITIE Fellowship 2016:

The common admission test (written) type will be conducted by the NITIE and the candidates selected based on their performance with the written test followed by their past academic records and personal achievement, finally with the Personal Interview.


Financial Assistance for NITIE Fellowship Programme 2016:

Provided only to the regular candidates for four years as per MHRD guidelines. To be eligible for financial assistance the candidate should havea Valid Score of GATE/CAT/NET-JRF at the time of application.


Application Process:

The candidates who are interested in applying for the NITIE Fellowship 2016 program is requested to submit their hard copy of Application form along with their research proposal (maximum 1500 words) along with relevant document on or before 4th April 2016 at NITIE Mumbai through speed post.


Application Fees:

According to the official notification for NITIE Fellowship Programme 2016, the application filling is completely online mode only. While coming to the application fees,

Cocoa Borlaug Fellowships for Asia, Latin America and Caribbean, 2014

The USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) in collaboration with the World Cocoa Foundation (WCF) is pleased to announce the Cocoa Borlaug Fellowships for the candidates from Asia, Latin America and Caribbean countries.

The research fields include plant propagation methods, pests entomology and its control, cocoa genetics and breeding, plant nutrition which are for the Asian candidates. The candidates of Latin America and Caribbean countries have research fields such as genetics, breeding, soil fertility, plant propogation, control methods, research in particular for witch’s broom and frosty pod.

Scholarship details

Those who have been awarded the fellowship will be required to work at US universities with one of its mentors. The mentors can either work at the universities, or government agencies or research centers for three months. After the completion of three months, the Mentor will visit the candidate’s home institution to collaborate with the university.

This allows the home institution and the mentor to have a good knowledge transition and involve in more scientific research.

Senior Research Fellowship at CCS, University in India, 2014

The Ch. Charan Singh University, shortly known as CCS University is funding many of the research projects undertaken at the university at the department of genetics and Plant breeding. The CSS University is now inviting applications for Senior Research fellowship (SRF) for one of its DBT funded research projects namely ‘Cloning and Characterization of Genes Expressed In Response to Leaf rust infection for bread wheat’. The founder of the department is Prof.P.K.Gupta along with some of the research fellows helping the research projects enormously with their work.

The plant molecular biology laboratory was formed by the several small laboratories of the department of genetics and Plant Breeding. The department laboratory is today one of the leaders in plant genomic and molecular breeding research in India. It has now more than 10 research staff members and scientists, a scenic location at the centre of the University and a big laboratory space.

Level of the Course for which the scholarship is offered

The CSS University is offering this scholarship for one of the SRF positions in its DBT funded project. The course level is for the senior fellowship award. The scholarships for the JRF’s are also available at the project department.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should be M.Sc/ M.sc (Ag)/M.Phil with two years of research experience in the field of Plant Sciences. The post graduation can also be Agriculture/ genetics and Plant breeding/ Plant Biotechnology if no suitable candidate is available for the above position of SRF.
