The Joint Admission Board of IIT will follow a different criteria for admissions to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) and ISM, Dhanbad from this year and this will be implemented from the year 2013 replacing the older IIT-JEE Test. The JEE-2013 will be jointly conducted by the Zonal IIT’s and this includes IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee. JEE Main Question Papers, Prep Tips and Study Materials

Joint Entrance Examination(JEE MAIN) is all India entrance examination conducted by CBSE to get through the various engineering colleges in our country. The admissions to the various undergraduate courses in NIT’s, IIIT’s and several other semi or completely government funded institutes will be through JEE MAIN. This test will also serve as an entrance test or in precise terms the eligibility test to appear further in the JEE Advanced to get into IIT’s. The time duration between these tests will be nearly 2-3 weeks.  This test will be wholly managed and conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education. Earlier the admissions to the undergraduate courses to the various NIT’s and IIIT’s was made through AIEEE but from this year it will be through the entrance test called JEE MAIN and is actually the new face of AIEEE in a modified form as it will give weightage to the class twelfth board exams as well.

JEE Main Question Papers

Paper 1(B.E/B.Tech courses), it is in both offline and online modes and the date for the online examination is 7th April 2013 whereas for the online mode it is from 8th April to 25th April. Paper 2(B.Arch/B.Planning), it will be conducted only on the offline mode and it will be conducted on 7th April 2013.

Pattern of JEE MAIN 2013

Paper 1 for B.TECH
The exam will consist of objective type questions with  four options and single answer correct from physics, chemistry and mathematics. There will be a deduction of one fourth of the total marks for every wrong answer, however there will be no negative marking for the ones left unanswered. The duration of the exam will be of 3 hours.
Paper 2 for B.ARCH/B. PLANNING
This exam will consist of questions from Mathematics, Aptitude and Drawing. The duration of this test will be 3 hours as well.

Reservation Rules for JEE MAIN 2013

As per the rules of Indian Government, certain category of students are given reservation quota seats in the various entrance exams. In case of this test, the reservation criteria is
Scheduled Cast (SC)
Scheduled Tribe (ST)
Other Backward Classes (OBC)
Physically Disabled

JEE Main 2013 Marks Distribution

The students will be admitted to the various engineering colleges will be decided on the basis of the All India Rank of the candidate or popularly known as AIR and this AIR will be decided on the basis of 40% weightage to the normalized class twelfth marks and the rest 60% weightage to the marks of the JEE MAIN Test.

Important JEE Main 2013 Prep Tips

The candidate should sleep well one day before the exam, so that the candidate feels relaxed and calm on the examination day. Try to have light breakfast like Bread and Jam. Try to reach one hour before the commencement of the examination. Read the instructions mentioned on the very first page of the question paper and fill the bubbles on the answer sheet very carefully. The use of electronic gadgets like Calculators, mobile phones, Ipod’s is strictly prohibited in the examination hall. Do not bring materials like log table, notebook etc. the required information will be provided on the question paper itself. Give the Test with honesty and if you have worked hard you will definitely succeed.

Entrance Exams for IIIT and Admission Procedures

Indian Institute of Information Technology, popularly known as IIIT are one of the finest institutes of information and technology were recognize by the Ministry of Human resource development, government of India,  in our country India. IIIT’s provide education in the areas of information technology and Management .
The First IIIT was established in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh and named after honourable ex Prime Minister, Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, On the other hand the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad and Banglore are run by both private ad well as public authorities and these institutes changed their names to International institutes of Information and Technology instead of “Indian” in the year 2004-2005 after they developed into universities. Indian Institute of Information Technology, Jabalpur( Madhya Pradesh) was established in the year 2005 and it offers three trades and those are, Computer science, Electronics and Communication and Mechanical engineering and in the year 2009, it became a university as well. Indian Institute of Information and Technology, Bhubaneswar in the year 2007 and it offers it’s services in the areas of research and consultation. It has been officially declared by the honourable HRD minister of our country, Kapil Sibal that from the year 2013 there will be a common entrance test for engineering replacing the initial IIT-JEE and the AIEEE, after a meeting with the heads of the various government funded institutes in India. Earlier the admissions to the various IIT’s were made through the entrance test of AIEEE( All India Engineering Entrance Test) and this was to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, popularly known as CBSE and in fact the JEE MAIN will be set up by this same board as well.

Composition of the IIIT Test

The test will give equal weightage on the class twelfth board results along with the two objective type tests as well- JEE Main and JEE advanced and these tests will be conducted on the same day. The test will give 40% weightage to the Board results and the Main as well as the Advance tests will get 30% each.

Eligibility Criteria for IIIT

Only those students will be eligible to get into IIIT’s, that fulfil the condition mentioned below
The admission process will start only after the candidate appears for the JEE MAIN 2013 as the admissions will based on the score of the candidate in this exam.
As per the eligibility criteria of IIIT , The candidate must have passed the class twelfth exams or its equivalent with at least a minimum aggregate of 50% (GEN) or 40% (PH/OBC/SC/ST).
As per  the elgibility criteria, the candidates who are appearing  for the class twelfth exams in the year 2013 can also apply for this exam.

Number of attempts for IIIT Admission Test

The candidates will be allowed to appear in the test thrice but make sure these three tries should be consecutive and it includes the year of passing your class twelfth as well. And only those students who passes their class twelfth in the year 2011 or 2012 are eligible to appear in the 2013 test and the students who passes their class +2 boards before that are not eligible for this test.

Scoring and Marks distribution in the IIIT Test

The MAIN paper will consist of objective type of questions with four options available and there will be a negative marking for every wrong answer marked and ¼ of the total marks of that question will be deducted. However there will be no negative marking for the ones left unanswered.

IIIT Entrance Test Dates

The offline test will be held on the 7th April 2013 whereas the online test will be commence on 8th April 2013 till 30th April 2013.

Since these are one of the premier institutes of our country so they have a good placement record and even at the time of recession the placement levels don not go much down, Indian Institute of Information and Technology being the highest earner of placement, and the average salary of a student of IIIT Hyderabad is around 9.5 lacs per annum .
